All beauty appointments should be done 24-72 hours prior to spray tanning. Your Glo is the very last thing you want to do.

Spray tanning is a form of sunless tanning where a fine mist is sprayed onto your body. This mist has an ingredient in it called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) that interacts with your own skin’s chemistry to turn it tan, or bronze. DHA was approved by the FDA for use on the body in 1977

glo Care
I can’t stress enough that you really are the key to your spray tan looking flawless! It starts with a solid prep and great daily care after:
- Increase your water before and during.
- All beauty appointments should be done prior to spray tanning at 24-72 hours. Your Glo is the very last thing you want to do.
- Waxing - 72 hours after
- Tattoos or any permanent make up should be fully healed.
- Laser Hair removal 1 week after you laser appointment.
- Sunburn - it takes your skin 4 weeks to completely heal. See you once your skin has renewed.
- 24 hours prior to your spray tan: drink a lot of water, shower, shave using a new razor, exfoliate using a mitt or washcloth, not a loofah.
- Do NOT cause abrasions to your skin
- What to exfoliate with? Non-oil-based scrub. Pro tip: Baking Soda works wonders.
- Don’t cheat your skin by not putting in the work and exfoliating everywhere. Start with your toes working up your body, buffing in a circular motion. Repeat as needed. Rinse your body very well from any leftover residue.
- Tip: If you can start exfoliating 3 days prior to your spray tan (each day) depending on when you made your glo appointment. It’s a great thing for your skin.
Here is what you do the day of your spray tan session:
- On the day of your spray tan: shower using only water. Exfoliate with your mitt lightly everywhere using cool water, be sure to remove all residue. No scrub just water. Do not use shampoo or conditioner either. The last 60 seconds turn your water to cooler to close your pores. Come with a dry canvas - no lotions, deodorant, perfumes, make up, or jewelry on the day of.
- If you will be naked during tanning and need to wear a bra when you leave, have it be a normal bra not a sports bra. Strapless is suggested. Going braless is highly recommended.
- Men MUST wear underwear
- If you are wearing something during tanning, think tan lines and have it be dark in color and okay to get solution on it. It will wash off.
- Wear very loose clothes after. Sun dress, oversize shirt, sweatpants and flip flops are recommended. No socks.
- Bring a towel to protect your legs from your car seats and an umbrella.
Here is what you do after your spray tan:
Just relax while your tan does it’s magic before you first shower. Water is not our friend! Of course drink water but be careful. Try and sit with your arms and legs not pressed together.
Your First Shower Rules:
Use lukewarm water and no soap for the first rinse. The first rinse is 3 minutes max- no zoning out in the shower. Use hands to make sure all bronzer is thoroughly removed. Apply water based moisturizer head to toe. DHA color development takes 8-24 hours.
Pro tip: instead of using a towel to pat yourself dry, use an old cotton tee instead.
If you must sleep in something have it be oversize shirt and sweatpants, no socks.
Your Second Shower Rules:
Next Day and Duration of Glo.
You can use soap now, really wash your armpits and private parts. Be easy on the rest of your body and your breast area. Soap is to remove all things and leave a barrier. When it comes to drying pat yourself do not rub.
Drink a lot of water and lotion up often at least am and pm. Lotion and drinking a lot of water will help keep your glo for longer. Areas to not forget. Back of your legs, pelvic area and by your Achilles. Everyone seems to not give that area love.
Recommend soap: Goats Milk - I sell a beautiful glo safe soap.
Do Not use anything made with charcoal
Lotions and Oils recommendation: Hempz, Body Blur and almond oil.
Your glo will last anywhere from 5-7 days (maybe longer) depending how much dedication you put into your aftercare.
Pro tip: After day 5, exfoliate with a soft body polish daily, to help your skin absorb even more moisturizer to keep it looking and feeling gorgeous.
What to avoid:
- Retinol and any skin bleaching products
- Products containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, beta hydroxy, malic or lactic acids
- Toners or serums that contain alcohol or witch hazel
- Facial scrubs, mask, strips, microdermabrasion
- Wash cloths and loofahs
- Waxing, hair removal products (like Nair), dull razors
Though infrequent, a sunless tan may develop differently during various hormonal cycles including stress.
Most important, a sunless tan does not protect your skin from a sunburn. Always use sunscreen!
